Description
Bach’s seven multipartite toccatas are the most significant clavier works of his early years. They transfer an expanded, sonata-like species of the North German organ toccata to the more intimate world of the harpsichord. This new edition presents the toccatas in all the relevant versions surviving in manuscript copies from Bach’s immediate circle. By offering the definitive “Urtext” from the New Bach Edition, it enables professional performances on the highest level and adheres to the latest findings of international Bach scholarship.
