Description
Gideon Klein’s String Trio is a deeply touching testament to the artistic and spiritual resilience of musicians persecuted under National Socialism. Only a few days before his deportation to Auschwitz, the Czech-Jewish composer wrote it down in 1944 in the Theresienstadt concentration camp – his last completed work. Folkloristic melodies, polyphony à la Bach and dramatic intensity merge into an expressive masterwork. Music full of musical élan and emotionally demanding – a superb piece for ensembles looking to bring history to life!
